Another Success for Local Karate Club!
Three students from the Chikara Dojo based in Spennymoor travelled to Barry, South Wales recently to take part in the annual So – Kyokushin Championships. From the three who competed, all returned home triumphant.

In the 16 –18 yrs lightweight knockdown category Kyle Corner placed first, having beaten an opponent 25 kg heavier than himself.
In the Women’s lightweight knockdown category Michelle Corner placed 1st.
In the men’s lightweight category, after a three way draw, which came down to weight, Lee O’Neill, despite having beaten his other two opponents in previous bouts placed 3rd, as he was slightly heavier than both of them.
“It’s always refreshing to see our students do so well, it’s great to see their hard work and dedication pay off and it gives me a great sense of pride, knowing that the teaching at our club has helped them, commented instructor Lee Corner.
Instructors at the Chikara Dojo of Kyokushin Karate have been teaching full contact karate for the past 23 years and members always attend as many competitions as possible. Students have travelled to many different countries to compete, including France, Greece, America and Japan, to name but a few.
Members and supporters of this unique club would like to thank Stevie and Abbie of NE Camper Hire for sponsoring this event. Their help is very much appreciated.
