Six members of the International Karate Organisation Nakamura fighting out of the Chikara Dojo Kyokushin Karate Club in Spennymoor, County Durham took part in the 7th Kyokushin Cup All UK Open Karate Tournament held in Glasgow recently. The tournament had competitors from as far afield as Italy and Spain in attendance.

From the six members of Team Chikara, 3 returned home with trophies. In the girls 12 -14 year old category, Hannah Walker achieved third. In the boys 16 – 18 year old category, Kyle Corner placed second and in the men’s heavyweight category Adam Lowes placed third.
Fourth Dan, Chief Instructor Adam Walker, who opened the Spennymoor club just over 22 years ago after returning from six years in Japan, is absolutely delighted with the results:
“Our members are a credit to themselves, their families, their community our club and our organisation. They should be extremely proud of their achievements. Their preparation, dedication and hard work over the past months truly have paid off.”
Members of the club and their parents would like to thank everyone who helped them in the run-up to this competition.
Anyone interested in being part of this unique club can find out more by emailing arimz@hotmail.com or by contacting Adam Walker on 07713 411 198.
