Members from the internationally respected Chikara Dojo of Kyokushin Karate based at Durham Academy of Martial Arts, Low Grange Road, Spennymoor are preparing for the Kyokushin Full Contact Spanish Championships, which will be held in Barcelona.
Two members of the club will be in attendance, where they will be competing in different kata events.
Black belt, Lindsay Young and brown belt Reza Azhdari – Nia have both been training at the Chikara Dojo for several years and have competed at national and international levels.
“I wish both of our competitors the very best of luck in Spain and I am sure they will do us all proud. At Team Chikara we are all doing our best to ensure both Lindsay and Reza are well prepared for this competition and we are sure the hard work will pay off.” Commented Chief Instructor Adam Walker.
Competing abroad is very nerve wracking as the events are much bigger, with competitors travelling from all over the world. Lindsay and Reza are fortunate to have other British competitors attending to offer support and advice.
